Benefits of Bamboo Fabric
Bamboo fabric is a bit of a wonder-product. People love it because it is very soft, even compared to other long-fiber, natural sources like cotton. Initially, it was applauded for its environmental benefits, because it is an efficient and fast-growing fiber crop. But Bamboo fabric is also antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and has natural UV protection. It pulls sweat and other moisture away from your skin and is both breathable and insulating. So, it stays cool when you want it and warm when you need that.

What Is A Good Thread Count For Sheets?
Best thread count for sheets depends on your budget and material.
What determines the thread count for sheets? Thread count is measured by number of threads woven into a square inch of fabric. Higher thread count sheets are more tightly woven than low thread count sheets.
Here are some basic ranges of high-quality thread counts for sheets of various materials:
- Cotton Bed Sheets: 200-400
- Egyptian Cotton Sheets: 300-400
- Percale Sheets: 200-400
- Satin Sheets: 300-600
- Bamboo Sheets: 300-500
- Linen Sheets: 80-140. Thread count is less of a useful indicator for linen sheets and rarely listed. Avoid higher thread counts for linen sheets.
All sheets are not measured by thread count. The following
- Silk Sheets: Measured in momme. Momme is a measure of weight that looks for the number of pounds in a piece of silk that is 45 inches by 100 yards. Look for silk sheets around the 17-22 momme range.
- Microfiber Sheets: Measured in grams per square meter (GSM). Look for microfiber sheets in the 90-120 GSM range.
- Flannel Sheets: Measured in GSM. Durable, heavyweight flannel sheets are in the 170+ GSM range. Lighter flannel sheets will be less durable, but lighter and more breathable.
- Jersey Sheets: Jersey is a type of knit that often uses cotton, but not always. The weight may vary somewhat depending on the material used. Many jersey cotton sheets are around 150 GSM.
Of course, remember that thread count is not an end-all, be-all measurement. The quality of the yarns, the manufacturer’s production process, the weave type, and many other factors all contribute to the performance of a set of bed sheets.
The Resort sheets are softer than 1000 thread count Egyptian Cotton. They easily compete with the Giza Cotton My Pillow Sheets.
Cariloha Sheets – Classic Line
The Cariloha Mattress is a luxury, side-wedge made from bamboo memory foam. The foam comes with two different densities to add comfortable support and durability. Every Cariloha mattress review we have see also gave this top scores. Bamboo memory foam relieves pressure because it molds to your sleep style and body shape.
This Cariloha bamboo mattress is anti-microbial and prevents dust mites. Dust mites are one of the top health reasons mattresses need to be replaced. Also, because bamboo viscose is moisture wicking, the Cariloha mattress repels odors and prevents the buildup of toxins and bacteria from sweat that builds up while you sleep. The foam is 100% Certipur Certified. This means it meets the tough standards set by CertiPUR-US for performance, and durability.
The Cariloha mattress has excellent airflow which makes it naturally breathable. It has a layer of Flex-Flow, support base foam which keeps heat from building up as you sleep which makes for cooler sleeping. Like the Cariloha sheets, the Cariloha mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. We do plan more Cariloha mattress reviews coming soon.
Cariloha Duvet Covers
This Resort level, Cariloha duvet cover is made from 100% Viscose material from bamboo, so it has the same benefits as their other fabric products. It also features a hidden wooden button closure.
Just like with the sheets and mattress, the bamboo fabric pulls moisture from your skin and it is antimicrobial. All of that is good for your health and reduces odors.
Bamboo linen? Yes, and it is really nice.
Each Cariloha Duvet set comes with the duvet cover and two pillow shams. The shams have 2” mitered flanges and a French-flap closure.
The thing we really like about all their bedding it the cooling feel. It always feel crisp but warms you in the cold and keeps you cool when you sleep
The Cariloha comforter is incredibly soft. Yes, the comforter cover has all the same advantages of the other 100% Viscose bamboo items.
But the comforter also has other benefits. The stitching and fill are both excellent. Watch out for comforters that are stitched and filled ina way that won’t hold up to a lot of use and laundry.
- Queen: 96″ x 92″
- King: 110″ x 96″
In one important way, Cariloha towels are different from other parts of their 2020 collection because they are not 100% bamboo fabric. Every Cariloha towel is 42% viscose from bamboo and 58% Turkish, combed cotton. For towels, this is a better combination than 100% bamboo would be.
They make the fabric by slightly twisting the bamboo yarn and looming it to 600 grams per square meter. It has an added silicon softener which makes even new Cariloha towels feel like they are already worn in. The Cariloha towels are the softest towels we have ever seen. They are also a nice, firm weight and very plush.
Cariloha towels come in a range of sizes. The bath towels come in 7 solid colors and measure 30″ x 56″
The Cariloha Towels 3-piece set comes in five colors and each includes…
- 1 bath towel (76 x 142 cm / 30 x 56 in)
- 1 Hand Towel (41 x 76 cm / 16 x 30 in)
- 1 Washcloth (33 x 33 cm / 13 x 13 in).
The Bath Sheets come in 6 colors and measure 40″ x 70″.
Maybe it isn’t surprising that since their bamboo fabric is cooling, antimicrobial, hypoallergenic, moisture wicking and resists odors they would launch a line of socks and underwear.
Cariloha socks benefit from all that and also are a good deal as well. The no-show Cariloha socks seen in white are only $10 and come with free shipping and returns. Trouser and crew socks are either $12 or $15. This is good for a quality material.
Interestingly, the no-show socks are a different fabric mix than the other Cariloha socks. These are 75% Viscose from bamboo, 15% Nylon and 10% Spandex. They are very cool and extremely soft and you will definitely like them more than cotton socks.
All the other Cariloha socks, including the trouser socks shown in Navy are 62% Viscose from bamboo, 28% organic cotton, 5% Nylon and 5% Spandex .
Cotton isn’t really an ideal cloth for socks and underwear. When they get damp and hold moisture against your skin. Cotton doesnt breath as well and it also can harbor bacteria. However, cotton does get stronger when it gets damp which has advantages in some products.
There is Cariloha underwear for both men and women. These are made with their bamboo Viscose material so it is hypoallergenic and goes easy on sensitive skin. It also pulls moisture away from the skin and is antimicrobial. So every pair will also reduce odors and wear cool.
The women’s underwear comes in thong, bikin and boyshorts. The colors differ between the cuts. So click the link to see details
Women’s Sizing is…
- Small (0-2)
- Medium (4-6)
- Large (8-10)
- X-Large (10-12).
Cariloha underwear for men comes in boxer-briefs. They are available in nine color and pattern options and all sell for $22 a pair.
If you buy three pairs of any combination of mens or womens Cariloha underwear you automatically get a fourth one free. Just add 4 to your cart.
There is a lot to like in the 2021 collection. What is really nice is that a simple idea, bamboo fabric, can be applied to so many different things. You certainly don’t think about duvet covers and underwear having much in common. But, anything that touches your skin should treat your skin well.
Bamboo fabric has a lot of great characteristics. It is soft, durable, renewable and relatively green. It also pulls moisture away from your skin and is hypoallergenic and antimicrobial. Staying clean, dry and odor free is universal and that is why the whole collection works for us.
